3. Allantoin

Of plant, animal or synthetic origin, Allantoin comes in the form of an odorless white powder. Suitable for all skin types, especially if they are sensitive, irritated, damaged and damaged by the sun, this active ingredient is often popular in skin care for its numerous benefits.

ree

Healing : Allantoin modulates the inflammatory response of the healing process by possibly inhibiting the chemotaxis of inflammatory cells at the wound site. Studies have also suggested that it plays a role in fibroblastic proliferation and the synthesis of extracellular matrix, a major element in the structure and organization of skin tissues during wound healing.

Anti-inflammatory : Allantoin is capable of inhibiting COX-2, a cyclooxygenase which contributes to the production of prostaglandins which are in turn responsible for some of the symptoms of inflammation. It also interferes with the activation of NF-κB, a protein involved in the immune response at the transactivation level of p65. These properties are useful for soothing the skin.

Keratolytics : Allantoin eliminates corneocytes by loosening the intercellular cement or desmosomes (protein bridges), which maintain the adhesion of corneocytes to each other, and thus promotes the elimination of dead cells.

Moisturizer : Allantoin is a water-soluble humectant ingredient that helps increase the water content of cells by fighting against transepidermal water loss.

Stimulation of collagen production : Allantoin is capable of acting indirectly on the stimulation of fibroblasts to promote the production of collagen, a protein guaranteeing firmness and elasticity.
